The AIEEE is considered to be one of the most popular entrance examinations for engineering. Held once every year, this exam is a gateway to the most reputed State-level institutes & NIT’s for around 27000 seats. Over 10 lakh BE and BTech aspirants take this test every year after completing their 10+2 in the science stream with 50% marks.
Test Pattern – A 3 hour test consisting of objective questions which carry ¼ negative marks for every wrong answer. Some of the leading colleges from which you might get a call once you score well in AIEEE are BIT Mesra, Delhi Technological University (DTU), School of Planning & Architecture, etc. among several other deemed universities.The AIEEE is definitely considered to be the bestin the list of top 10 Engineering Entrance Exams in India.
IIT-JEE (Indian Institute of Technology – Joint Entrance Exam)
Qualifying for the IITs, this test is also one of the toughest examinations for the engineering aspirants. With 15 IITs, this test offers around 9000 seats also including other colleges such as the IISER & ISM Dhanbad. You need to secure 60% or more marks in your 10+2 completed in the Science stream with subjects Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
Test Pattern – With two question papers of 3 hours each, there are 3 sections for both the papers. Wrong answers will carry negative marks and seats will be allocated to you according to the ranking you achieve in the test.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
This test is conducted by the IIT and the Indian Institute of Science (IIS) jointly specially for the students seeking postgraduate engineering courses. Therefore, the eligibility will be to have a graduate degree in engineering or equivalent courses after 10+2 of school.
BITSAT (BIRLA INSTITUTE TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE ADMISSION TEST)
This test is for the Bachelor’s in engineering programs of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science for the 2500 seats in its campuses in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. Over a lakh students appear for this test every year completing their 10+2 with an aggregate of minimum 80% of marks and with 60% each in the PCM.
Test Pattern – This is a 3 hour test with 150 multiple choice questions which will be marked 3 for every right and negative 1 for every wrong answer. Allocation of seats is purely based on the scores the student gets in the examination.
UPTU SEE (Uttar Pradesh Technical University State Entrance Examination)
Established by the government of the Uttar Pradesh, this UPTU is considered to be one of the largest universities of the country. Held every year, the entrance exam for several technical courses requires a student to have cleared 10+2 to apply.
Test pattern – With no negative marking the test is divided in two papers. One will be for 90 minutes and have 90 questions of Mathematics. The other paper will be for 150 minutes and consist of 75 questions of Physics & Chemistry.
MHT CET (Maharashta Common Entrance Test)
Conducted by Maharashtra’s Directorate of Technical Education, MHT CET is for all the engineering aspirants to choose any college or university offering Undergraduate Engineering courses across the state of Maharashtra. Any student with minimum of 50% marks in their 10+2 can apply for this test.
Test pattern – There are two papers for one and a half hour each which constitutes of objective multiple choice questions. One part will be of 100 marks and entirely based on Mathematical questions whereas the other part consists of Physics and Chemistry holding 50 marks each. There is no negative marking for this test and admission is based on your ranking.
