While doing higher education, students are asked to do a lot of activities. It is all part of the curriculum. Some of the activities include: group study, conducting seminars, doing assignments or projects, submitting research papers etc. Among the above mentioned activities, some are written works. Doing written works are considered as a tiresome task by most of the students. But actually, it is not that much bad. If you have a great source of references, an efficient guide and a lot of interest from your part, it is going to be an interesting deed.
In the present world where technology is widening day by day, it is not difficult to get reference materials. There are so many websites which offer us with ample materials. Documents at EDULibs or any other leading sites could be depended as per our choice. With help of all these we can make our written work a magnificent one. Reference is an essential part of all written works. Here are given some essential ideas on how we could write a good reference
We add the reference page to our written works make clear that you have used and considered ideas of others for completing your research. It is a clear demonstration of the source from which you got some idea. About the content of the reference, it could be a particular concept or idea, a rewrite quote of a famous personality or of a famous work, a real quote etc. Communication which is considered personal also could be used as reference. By reading a reference, a reader should be able to understand clearly about the source from where you have taken that particular idea.
There are some general statements or universal truths. Such things need not be referenced. If we are referencing an idea from a written text, we should include the author’s name or surname and the year when the book was published. If the author’s name is not available, you can mention the title of the work. In case of some articles seen in some journals or some Documents at EDULibs, the author’s name may not be mentioned. In such situations, we can write down the name of the organisation.
How to use quotes?
We should be careful while including quotes in our reference area. Its size should be limited to not more than 10% of the work we are doing. It is applicable only if we are paraphrasing the quotes. In the case of direct quotes, it should be further limited. To make it clear, don’t make your essay looks like a series of quotes. Because if it does, it shows that you have just copied everything into your paper and you have little knowledge about what you have written. If we are entering a quote which have word limit below thirty, it should be kept inside single quotation marks. But if it exceeds that word limit, you can write it as a separate passage avoiding quotation marks. It should be made different from others by making it in small font.
